The camera works fine with the Access Point, until the WEP Encryption is enabled. |
We recommend to setup 4 WEP Keys in the Access Point, and then enter the exact same keys in the camera's wireless configuration. Tests with different Access Points from different vendors have shown that this gives you the best compatibility. Most Access Points are ok if you only enter the "default" key, but should you run into connection problems you should enter all 4 keys (even if you put in zeroes, as long as the Access Point is setup the same way you are fine).
WEP Key needs to be entered in HEX Values That means that you have to type in 26 characters if you use 128 Bit encryption, and 10 characters if you use 64 Bit encryption.

Important things to know about the Wirelesss Setup. |
1. Automatic Connection to Wireless Networks
Wireless Network IP Camera 550703 is designed to automatically connect the the strongest unprotected wireless network in range. It will search for available wireless networks and will automatically establish a connection, even if you have not entered a SSID in the Wireless Setup. If you enter a SSID, the camera will always try to connect to that network, it will not automatically connect to any other access point anymore.
2. Wireless/Wired Operation Switch on the backside of the camera. The switch has 3 positions. Left Position: only wired connection Right Position: only wireless connection Middle Position: Wired or Wireless Connection, wired has priority over wireless.
3. WEP Encryption The camera supports both 64 and 128 Bit WEP Encryption.
-> The code needs to be entered in HEX, not ASCII. -> Fill out all 4 keys, even of you only use one key. -> All 4 keys should be the same as the keys in the Wireless Access Point.
4. About MAC Addresses Wireless Network IP Camera is equipped with two Network Cards. One for the RJ45 connection, another one for the Wireless connection. Both cards have different MAC Addresses.
-> You can find the MAC Addresses of both adapters on a label on the bottom of the camera
-> IP INSTALLER will always show the MAC Address of the card which is being used to make the connection. That means if the camera is connected wirelessly IP INSTALLER will show the MAC Address of the Wireless Adapter.
-> Both MAC Addresses can be looked up at the System Configuration Page of the Administrator Menu. |

Can I use the camera's integrated motion detection function to secure goods of a high value and sensitive areas? |
Using Network IP Camera's integrated Motion Detection Function for security functions is not recommended as the function does not work as reliable as professional security sensors.
We recommend to use a professional security monitoring software such as GO1984 or Webcam Watcher in combination with Network IP Camera. You may also connect external security sensors to the camera's digital input port for increased security. |
